eBook: Cloud-Native System Performance

As an architect, tuning cloud-native systems for performance improvement, you have to deal with and think about multiple factors. Factors - some of those are obvious and some of those are not.

In this first edition, I have compiled various challenges and cloud-native approaches to help improve the overall system performance. The blog posts and this eBook underpin the fact that addressing performance-related issues is a matter of identifying the bottlenecks and doing the right trade-offs. This eBook definitely has more content with deeper insights than the blog posts themselves, as I had to limit the length of the blog posts.

This is essentially my written-down mindmap and compilation of lessons learned when I drive or contribute to performance-related discussions with fellow architects or executive teams. My hope is that this eBook (and in general the content that I publish) will help the developers find an approach to being successful architects in the domain of their choice.

I have intentionally kept everything generic to separate the principles, patterns, and practices from any specific language, platform, tool, or provider. In my opinion, this helps avoid deviation and lets the reader think in their own set of tools and skillset that they may be working on in their day-to-day activities. Treat this as food for thought, and probable points of discussion to have more influence and control.

Lastly, this is my informal, humble, non-commercial, unedited, and first-ever attempt to write something of this length based on my experience. There may be some faults and shortcomings and I welcome all the constructive criticism and feedback. I promise to get better with more content. But what I do not want is for you to miss out on a larger picture of addressing one question all tech folks have - what does it take to be an architect?
